SOIL TYPES

Paulownia requires a free-draining, sandy loam type soil and will not tolerate wet or heavy clay-type conditions.

TEMPERATURE TOLERANCE

Paulownia will withstand a low temperature of -10 degrees Farenheit and high temperatures up to 120 degrees Farenheit.

ALTITUDE TOLERANCE

Paulownia requires an elevation of no more than 2200 feet.

Plant hardiness zones are a good starting point, but you still need to make the final decision as to what will and will not work for planting in your area. Hardiness zone guides only assist you in assessing suitability of your site.

We suggest paulownia should be planted in geographical areas between Zone 6 and 11. Please note: Not all areas of zones 6 and 7 are suitable due to elevation and/or severe winter temperatures.
